2020: First Virtual Convention
The 2020 National Convention was originally scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia. The COVID-19 pandemic swept over the world, however, and Alpha Sigma Tau needed to change their plans to prioritize the health and safety of their members. Thus, Alpha Sigma Tau organized their first virtual convention.
In addition to finding solutions to conducting Sorority business, Alpha Sigma Tau also honored as many of the other Convention experiences as possible. The Convention award presentations and the Memorial Service were adapted to the online format. Alpha Sigma Tau also wanted to honor the desire to connect with other Sisters, which led them to offer both a fun kickoff event and the opportunity to enjoy Coffee with the Council from the members' own living rooms.
The Alpha Sigma Tau Foundation hosted the 43rd National Convention Campaign Silent Auction fully online. They also made sure that members were still able to purchase Yellow Rose "sticker" tribute gifts in honor of Sisters for The Yellow Rose Garden.
As Alpha Sigma Tau's Conventions adapt to the times, new traditions are added and others may fade, but the importance of sisterhood and the strengthening of bonds remain of utmost importance.
