Martha Drouyor Belknap DeCamp (Alpha 1958/Eastern Michigan) attended Eastern Michigan University, where she earned a degree in home economics education. While there, she joined Alpha Chapter in 1958, serving as Chapter President during her senior year.
Martha married Sam DeCamp, and they have two sons. She has had a career in education for most of her life, teaching in junior and senior high schools, as well as for Cuisinart and Calphalon Corporations. She was active in civic and professional organizations, as well as volunteering in the Catholic parishes to which she belonged.
After her graduation from college, Martha joined the Ypsilanti-Ann Arbor Alumnae Chapter, where she served in multiple officer positions, including Chapter President. She was soon asked to be National Social Service Coordinator (later Philanthropy Chairman), during which time she developed the first 35mm slide programs about the Pine Mountain Settlement School to educate members about the National Philanthropy. She served as Philanthropy Chairman for 21 years, before joining the National Council as Director of Fraternity Programs.
At the 1996 Convention, Martha intended to run for another term as the Director of Fraternity Programs but was instead elected National President. She helmed Alpha Sigma Tau during their Centennial celebrations and left office in 2002. She continued to serve Alpha Sigma Tau on the Nominations and Constitution Revision Committees, before joining the Board of Trustees in 2008.
Martha’s Sorority honors include the Collegiate and Alumnae Top Tau, Order of the Yellow Rose, Convention Top Tau, Ada A. Norton Outstanding Alumna Award, and Centennial Sustainer Award. The Martha Drouyor Belknap DeCamp Outstanding Philanthropy Award is named in her honor. The award honors collegiate and alumnae chapters or associations that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to philanthropic endeavors.
