Doyle, Mary Louise Mandrea
Mary Louise Mandrea Doyle (Theta 1925/Wayne State) attended Wayne State University, where she was initiated into Theta Chapter in 1925. She continued her education at the University of Michigan and earned her degree. Mary married Colonel Justin G. Doyle, a military officer whose career led the family to move often and travel extensively, with Mary and Justin living in Japan, France, and Germany at different times. Together the couple had two daughters, Loyola and Patricia. Mary and her husband continued their international travels even after Colonel Doyle’s retirement.

Mary devoted much of her time to Alpha Sigma Tau throughout her long life. To say she held many positions within the Sorority is an understatement. Some of her positions included National Editor, National Chaplain, National Historian, Convention Chairman, NPC Alternate Delegate, NPC Delegate, and Board of Trustees member, among many others. She also attended 22 National Conventions between 1931 and 1996 and served on numerous committees to improve aspects of the Sorority.

For her devotion to Alpha Sigma Tau, Mary was awarded the Ada A. Norton Award in 1952 and named the Alumnae Convention Top Tau in 1994. Alpha Sigma Tau also honored her by naming the Mary Louise Mandrea Doyle Panhellenic Award and the Mary Louise Mandrea Doyle Scholarship for her.

Mary passed away on August 19, 2008.
